    Inge Fonteyne

    Inge Fonteyne was born and raised in Antwerp, Belgium. Antwerp, bursting with art and design, is the home of the fab five designers, and her uncle, art and fashion photographer, Karel Fonteyne, who inspired her from a very young age. In Inge’s senior year in high school, she took a photography class, which led her to be staff photographer for the high school newspaper and year book. She continued her training in fine arts and photography in college. Inge used her parents bathroom which doubled as a dark room to develop and print her film. She spent a summer in Paris, studying fashion and illustration, at Parsons school of design, and continued her education at Parsons in New York after she graduated college. After spending a year in New York, doing menial jobs while attending school, she needed to get a real job. Inge started her career as a fashion stylist’s assistant at Vogue magazine, where she had her best training, working under stylist, Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, in the early 90’s. There she worked with the top photographers and models of that time. While assisting, she took candid pictures of the models, and now has a great collection of polaroids of, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell to name a few. Later she became the Senior Fashion Editor of Elle Magazine. During her freelance years as a stylist, she worked with many top celebrities, photographers and models, on editorials, advertising campaigns and commercials, she even worked on the film Zoolander with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. Always knowing she would one day be on the other side of the lens, Inge, now a photographer, has the unique advantage, also being a stylist, knows exactly how the clothing looks best on her subjects. Photography is a form of self expression, and Inge loves being part of the process of developing the personality behind the lens. "A pictures is worth a thousand words”.
