    Derek Kettela is a director, fashion, beauty and celebrity photographer. Derek was born in Toronto, Canada. As a high school student, Derek was an avid skateboarder and snowboarder, which led him to photography of action sports. While living in Vancouver from 1997 to 2002 he worked as a senior contributing photographer for Transworld Snowboarding magazine, traveling to Japan, New Zealand, Chile, and Europe in the process. In 2003, Derek changed his focus to fashion photography and relocated to New York City. He had the honor of assisting some of the top fashion and celebrity photographers in the world before going out on his own in 2005. Since then he has built an impressive body of work in the fashion , beauty and celebrity photography field. Derek has worked with multiple top models, Oscar winning actors and actresses, pop superstars, and championship athletes. He has photographed over 50 internationally published magazine covers, including international editions of Elle, Vogue, Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Esquire, Playboy and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. After 18 years in NYC, Derek recently moved his base to Los Angeles and travels regularly to New York City, Canada and Europe for work. He is still an avid snowboarder and love the outdoors.
