    Emmanuelle Alt is the former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris. Less controversial than her predecessor, Carine Roitfeld, Emmanuelle told the New York Times in 2011, "I think you can make very strong fashion pictures without shocking." Before beginning her career in fashion, she attended Lübek, a posh private Catholic school in Paris, the alma mater of many powerful women in fashion and former first lady of France, Cécilia Sarkozy. She scored her first big break with an assisting job at French Elle in the early 90s. According to her, she fell in love with fashion at age 19 after attending a Jean Paul Gaultier show at Porte de la Villette. Emmanuelle loves Topshop jeans, Michael Jackson, and Saturday Night Fever. Perfectly befitting her slim-fit, rock and roll, androgynous style, her favorite era spans 1965-1975. Ask her what two things she cannot live without and the answer is her BlackBerry and earphones. She most frequently collaborates with photographer David Sims, with whom she has had a close working relationship for years. "Her style is her big shoulders, long legs, tight jeans, sleeves up to the elbow, one hip out. I personally like her. She's a handsome French woman," proclaims Karl Lagerfeld.
