An option (or hold) is a client's tentative reservation of a model for a specific date, before a firm booking. A “first option” has priority: if a second client wants the same date, the first option is “challenged” and must confirm or release it. Until it is booked, it is not a confirmed job.
How an option works
First and second option. The first client to hold a date has priority; others can place a second option behind them.
Challenging. If a second client wants to firm-book the date, the agency “challenges” the first option — they must confirm within a set time or release the model.
Not yet paid. An option is a placeholder, not a booking, so it carries no fee until it is confirmed.
Option vs booking
An option/hold is a maybe on your calendar; a booking is a confirmed, paid job. Your agency manages options so you don't double-book a date.
What is the difference between an option and a booking?
An option (or hold) is a tentative reservation of a date; a booking is the confirmed, paid job. An option only becomes work once it is confirmed.
What does first option and second option mean?
The first client to hold a date has priority (first option); another client can queue behind them (second option) and may challenge the date to force a confirm-or-release.
Do you get paid for a hold?
No. A hold or option is just a placeholder on the calendar and carries no fee unless it converts into a confirmed booking.
