John Armstrong began his modelling career in London in 1985. Over the next nine years he worked between London, Paris, Milan, New York and Japan for fashion houses including Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Hermès, Valentino, Gianfranco Ferré, Yohji Yamamoto and Matsuda.
His editorial work included Vogue Hommes International and L’Uomo Vogue, collaborating with photographers including Aldo Fallai, Jean-Baptiste Mondino, Michel Comte, Oliviero Toscani, Albert Watson and Deborah Turbeville.
After leaving modelling in 1994, Armstrong remained connected to the fashion world through catering before opening La Ville de Jagannath, a vegetarian restaurant in Paris that received extensive French and international press coverage and was listed by Gault & Millau. Throughout this period, he continued developing his work as a visual artist.
In 2023, after 29 years away, Armstrong unexpectedly returned to modelling, beginning a second international career.
He lives in France, where he continues his work as an artist and is developing La Ferme de l’Être, a project dedicated to art, creation and nature.
